Passion project software suites

I have a soft spot for software suites and desktop environments envisioned by a single developer, reflecting their personal vision for how they wish to use their computers.

Desktop

• 100 Rabbits' tools ecosystem - Rolled their own replacements for Xcode and Photoshop to reduce dependence on software and hardware that they couldn't maintain themselves.
• NEXTSPACE by trunkmaster - A modern day NeXTSTEP-inspired suite of desktop applications built according to the OpenStep User Interface Guidelines for Linux.
• SerenityOS by Andreas Kling - Unix-like operating system that combines a bunch of UI ideas from mid-90s operating systems, and naturally includes a bunch of software adhering to those ideas. SerenityOS development is meticulously documented on the developer's YouTube channel.
• sloum's informal personal productivity suite is a command-line based suite, including a basic spreadsheet, a project management swim lane app, and a smallnet browser.

Mobile

• lil software by Jordan Singer - Minimalist replacements for many iOS system apps, primarily distributed over TestFlight.

Web

• Polyx by Linus Lee - Building tools specifically conforming to his own workflows instead of building workflows around already existing tools. Well-documented philosophy and written in a custom programming language.
